Brick is unforgiving in a way that suits it. Every course is visible, joints are either consistent or they are not, and there is no finish that covers a bad line.
We lay garden walls, porch steps, columns, planters, chimney stacks and the low walls that hold a front garden. Bond pattern, joint profile and mortar colour all get chosen up front, because together they matter more to how the finished wall reads than the brick itself.
On an older house, the mortar is usually the decision that counts. Modern mixes are harder than the brick around them, and over years that hardness moves the damage into the brick face.
